GitHub PR validation in "waiting" status when commit is skipped by AppVeyor

My .appveyor.yml file skips builds that only include changes to the doc folder:

skip_commits:
  files:
  - doc/*

This PR only changes files under that folder, so appveyor appropriately skips it.

The problem is that GitHub doesn't recognize this and shows the PR as still waiting for a status update from appveyor (see attached screenshot). I'm not sure what I expect instead. Perhaps it should report "skipped" or remove the entry on the PR altogether. But as it is, it looks like we're waiting on something that will never happen and in fact I suspect this will cause the PR to block completion without a project admin to override the policy that requires appveyor to report success.

Can this be resolved?

    Andrew,

Please check this discussion. tldr: we do not set pending status and happy to set some meaningful status in this case, but currently there are no suitable status. Hopefully it will be added (at least we asked). For now you can reset status manually or forcibly merge a PR. If you have another idea how to deal with this, please let us know.

    Ilya.
