Pushing zip to artifacts with custom deployment name works.
Build results:
https://ci.appveyor.com/project/FeodorFitsner/simple-console/build/...
appveyor.yml:
https://github.com/FeodorFitsner/simple-console/blob/master/appveyo...

Now, if you have more than one Web Deploy package in artifacts
you should specify either its "deployment name" or "cloud" file
name (path you see on Artifacts tab). Your second example looks
correct. Alternatively, you can try file name:

deploy:
provider: WebDeploy
server: https://something.scm.azurewebsites.net:443/msdeploy.axd?site=something
website: something
username: $something
password: XX
ntlm: false
remove_files: true
artifact: project1.zip # or whatever its full path on Artifacts tab

publish_wap: true
pushes all WAPs from the solution
and resulting zips are named after their VS project names.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Feodor Fitsnertag:help.appveyor.com,2012-11-13:Comment/361942302015-03-05T07:52:55Z2015-03-05T07:52:55ZGetting myself confused over web deploy and artifacts again

Thanks Feodor, sorted

julian.elve
