"git rev-parse HEAD" not working

The problem seems to be that there is no git repository, even
when I cd into c:\projects\nupic-core and run
git status as shown here:

You can use Command ⌘ instead of Control ^ on Mac

This is because you have "shallow_clone" (or Download as zip) enabled when git repo is downloaded as zip.
