Scratch that. It still passes on failure in the original project: https://ci.appveyor.com/project/nimbus/nim-chronicles/builds/24463466/job/cr1pff5yrtut0pxp

If your run this build locally and echo %errorlevel% after nimble test command is it non-zero?

    It's 1.

Weird: `nimble test` exits with 0 in the AppVeyor environment (unlike it does locally), so that's why the build passed - https://ci.appveyor.com/project/nimbus/nim-chronicles/builds/24470899/job/wmep481r806hk66g

    (I changed the command to `nimble test & echo "errorlevel =" %errorlevel% & exit 1`)

Found the problem: it's a Nimble bug. Sorry for the invalid bug report.
