Appveyor getting stuck during build

Because of some problems with pacman failing with 404 errors, I've started using the Visual Studio 2019 image (setting APPVEYOR_BUILD_WORKER_IMAGE: Visual Studio 2019).

The issue now is that the jobs get stuck during builds and then fail (I believe because of a timeout).

See an example here (which behaves the same after retries):

Any way that I can fix this behaviour?

Most probably there is a child process spawned during tests and hanging around after they finish. Enable RDP to see what's going on during the tests. You may need to add teardown logic to your tests to shutdown any sub-processes.

Every test in the library that uses a threaded implementation is now getting stuck on signals. Not sure why this changes between the previous worker image and this one. I configured the build to skip those tests for now. But definitely something changed.
