Hi Feodor,

until recently, we manually set the web deploy settings in the gui OR the yml file - and it worked/works.

- provider: WebDeploy
  server: <snip>
  website: <snip>
  username: <snip>
    secure: <snip>
  remove_files: true
  app_offline: true

and this is the output text... proving that it's working...

424 total, 0 failed, 3 skipped, took 113.385 seconds
Uploading artifact <snip> (37.6 MB)...OK
Deploying using WebDeploy provider
Synchronizing contents of <snip>
Synchronizing website content

Info: Deleting file <snip>

Info: Adding ACL's <snip>

Info: Using ID <snip>
Info: Updating file (<snip>).
<lots of snip>
Total changes: 33 (4 added, 4 deleted, 25 updated, 25,024,820 bytes copied)
Deployment completed
Build success

but now we've moved to using Environments because we have one general file for deploying our code .. but the environment specified which user and therefore which webserver to deploy to (each developer has their own azure web apps/website/web-whatever-its-called-today).

here's the output...

424 total, 0 failed, 3 skipped, took 109.660 seconds
Deploying using Environment provider
Started deployment to <snip> environment
Updating build cache
All cache items are up to date.
Build success

nothing about syncing etc. Not even an error message?

We're pretty sure it's not deploying .. but just to be safe, should we be seeing some copy information, similar to what we see when we do:

- provider: WebDeploy

The deployment starts asynchronously and you can see its log under the environment.

There's another place we need to check??? really?

/me runs off .. and hunts for this secret place..

oh wow. you're right. There's this extra logging stuff under Environments...

Neither 'WebDeploy package', nor 'Web application', nor 'Zip archive' artifact was found that can be deployed using WebDeploy provider.

so it didn't deploy .. because of .. that :( URGH!

Any idea how to debug this issue? I've never had to .. do those things before? Didn't they just get auto made when I hardcoded the provider in the deploy section? eg.

    - provider: WebDeploy

Make sure that build has artifacts before deployment to environment is called.

    Artifacts? huh? ... hmm

OH this!!! publish_wap: true AH! ha. damn it.

      project: $(solutionFile)
      publish_wap: true
      parallel: true
      verbosity: minimal

I'm sure this is the missing piece : I'll give it a go and report back in a day or so.

    thanks Feodor!
