I've tried both regular and curly braces, quotes and no quotes and it doesn't work

- cmd: dir Releases

- path: Releases\Hotsapi.Uploader-$(version)-delta.nupkg
- path: 'Releases\Hotsapi.Uploader-$(version)-delta.nupkg'
- path: Releases\Hotsapi.Uploader-{version}-delta.nupkg
- path: 'Releases\Hotsapi.Uploader-{version}-delta.nupkg'

    Hi Roman,

    - path: Releases\Hotsapi.Uploader-$(APPVEYOR_BUILD_VERSION)-delta.nupkg

version is not really an Environment variable, it is rather local variable we made available during AssemblyInfo or .csproj patching (just to make it compact).
