We have a scenario where we have 3 different websites. One of
them is the primary site deployed to Azure website. Other two
websites are virtual directories inside the same azure website.
This blog post describes our scenario well

Has any one done this before?

I am assuming that we have to push additional files into the web
deploy package.

Any pointers for this will be helpful?

Thanks

rajindersinghtag:help.appveyor.com,2012-11-13:Comment/369355632015-05-26T03:08:37Z2015-05-26T03:08:37ZDeploying multiple virtual directories in the same Azure Website

Nice article, thanks for sharing it.

As far as I understood you should have 3 Web Deploy
packages - one for primary web site and others 2 for
virtual directories. If it's a single VS solution you should end up
with 3 Web Deploy artifacts in build results.

Next, you setup 2 virtual directories using Azure Portal.

Then you setup 3 Web Deploy publishinga - 1 for primary site and
2 for virtual directories (specify

<website>/<vdir>
in their site name
fields).

Feodor Fitsnertag:help.appveyor.com,2012-11-13:Comment/369355632015-09-23T23:29:37Z2015-09-23T23:29:38ZDeploying multiple virtual directories in the same Azure Website

So, this had me tearing my hair out again today. If anyone else
has issues on deployment to Azure with a vague error on the final
deployment step, I found that I had to publish each project to its
virtual directory within Visual Studio first (by connecting to my
Azure subscription and using the publish profiles). This apparently
sets the correct Access Control List (ACLs), after which, you can
then use Appveyor to deploy to virtual directories without issue. I
don't think there's any step i am missing in my configuration, and
the deployment error message is so vague as to be useless, so
hopefully this helps someone in future.

daleholborowtag:help.appveyor.com,2012-11-13:Comment/369355632015-09-23T23:55:43Z2015-09-23T23:55:43ZDeploying multiple virtual directories in the same Azure Website

Wow, that's kind of tricky! Thanks for sharing that. Just
wondering why wouldn't you just switch to regular VMs to simplify
the things?

upgrades etc for the server (ie. i wanted the hands-off approach of
Azure Websites, rather than running patches etc to VMs). I've also
read a few articles critiquing the VM performance in Azure
(admittedly a bit old now), but in future we'll have to revisit the
discussion and make a decision for VM / Website / own hosting.

daleholborowtag:help.appveyor.com,2012-11-13:Comment/369355632015-09-24T01:47:32Z2015-09-24T01:47:32ZDeploying multiple virtual directories in the same Azure Website

Yeah, sometimes Azure Cloud Service is like a blackbox and you
can stare for hours on "Recycling role..." message while
deploying

Feodor Fitsner
