git commit ID shortening
Hi,
git commit IDs are customarily shortened to an odd number of digits to make them more recognizable, and less prone to confusion with other IDs.
I'd like to suggest that you follow that practice.

You can use Command ⌘ instead of Control ^ on Mac

We also shorten them in UI…
